Job Summary

Monitoring and instructing the Fitness Center Activity classes during the morning, noon and afternoon block hours. Provide Personal Training activities and consultation for Aims students and employees. The Physical Conditioning and Training Associate should be self-motivated, organized and energetic.
1. Provide orientation and instruction to participants on all cardiovascular and strength training equipment within the Physical Education and Recreation Center, providing a quality leisure experience in a professional manner.
2. Provide participants with personal instruction and demonstrations for required technique, exercise intensity, mechanics and equipment usage.
3. Supervise daily exercise sessions with a high level of enthusiasm.
4. Consult with participants to identify personal health needs, personal goals, and exercise history to achieve individual desired success while upholding user privacy regulations.
5. Comply with all professional standards associated with Aims Community College.
6. Oversee individual participant response to exercise programs.
7. Maintain records of training and productivity of participants.
8. Monitor the Strength Center & Cardio Theatre, insuring that individuals and groups are using equipment correctly and following all safety procedures and facility guidelines.
9. Monitor facility and proactively provide specific instructions for appropriate facility use and provide equipment safety orientation for new facility and equipment users.
10. Monitor participants in facility and address any unsafe or inappropriate behaviors.
11. Be conscious of equipment condition, guidelines and regulations.
12. Demonstrate proper use of equipment and spot individuals using the Strength Center and Cardio Theater as needed.
13. Clean equipment periodically and return any equipment and/or weights not in use to its designated location.
14. Respond to all risk management issues and document all incidents and accidents.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a part/full-time basis.

1. Bachelors Degree
2. Personal Training Certification from one of the following nationally accredited exercise organization:
a. American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
b. American Council on Exercise (ACE)
c. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
d. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NSCA)
e. International Sports Science Association (ISSA)
f. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
g. American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA)
h. National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT)
i. National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF)
j. American Aerobic Association International (AAAI) Phase I & II
3. Hold a valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
4. Basic knowledge of all Strength Center and Cardio Theater equipment and operations, including proper use, care and maintenance procedures.
5. Ability to lift 100 lbs.
6. Able to attend in-house meeting and training sessions.
7. Possess effective decision-making skills.
8. Ability to positively communicate and work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
9. Excellent customer service skills

Work Hours
Part-time, 20 -25 hours/week with in hours of operation.
