Under limited direction from the Controller, the Tax Analyst is responsible for a variety of tax duties including preparation of Federal, State and local income tax returns for U.S.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the preparation and filing of state and local income tax returns.
  • Assists with the preparation of the federal income tax return.
  • Prepares estimated income tax returns and makes any payments, if necessary.
  • Maintains tax schedules including the tax basis fixed asset lapsing schedules.
  • Prepares business license returns and ensures they are accurate and filed in a timely manner.
  • Assists in preparing schedules and providing support in auditing tax returns.
  • Assists with the preparation and filing of personal property taxes filings.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned by the Controller.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Control Related Responsibilities

  • Strives to automate and standardize as many tax processes as possible and looks for ways to improve current systems.
  • Ensures that DeVry and its divisions comply with Sarbanes Oxley, federal and state regulations in order to avoid penalties and fines from regulators.
  • Develops processes and procedures for the Tax department that comply with regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with FAS 109
  • Maintains memberships in tax professional groups in order to increase knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  • Assists in federal and state income tax preparation in accordance with GAAP, FAS and also federal, state and local tax laws.
  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Adhere to internal control / compliance policy procedures and has high consciousness / awareness about the Code of Ethics.

  • Bachelors degree required. CPA highly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years related experience in a multi-state tax environment.
  • Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and tax processing software.
