Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Major Gifts Officer will initiate the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects capable of making major gifts ($25,000 or more) to Becker College. The Major Gifts Officer will interact regularly with the internal and external community, leadership, staff and volunteers. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for securing financial support from a portfolio of approximately 150 suspects/prospects. This position will foster an ongoing and positive relationship between the college and various internal/external constituencies of alumni & friends and lead to major gift support for the college’s mission and strategic plan.  This position requires a team member with a positive, can-do attitude and outstanding interpersonal skills who is energetic and enthusiastic. Gift officers work both independently and collaboratively as a member of the Advancement team, and coordinate their activities with others across the College.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred.  A minimum of 3 years’ experience soliciting annual and major gifts.  Thorough understanding and proven record of successful fundraising from individual and corporate sources. Working knowledge of higher education environment.  Experience collaborating with academic leaders, faculty members, and development colleagues.  Strong familiarity with computer systems and the ability to use new systems.  Experience in Raisers Edge preferred.  The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and oral communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
