The Facilities Manager at the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) has the overall responsibility for assuring the safe and operational physical environment that allows the school's faculty, staff, and students to conduct instruction, research, and clinical service. The manager oversees building remodeling projects, maintenance, property inventory management, building administrative functions, safety, building access and building security. The position functions with a great degree of independence in performing the duties and responsibilities and reports to the Associate Dean of Advancement and Administration.
The SVM occupies two buildings on campus. Its main facility is approximately 225,000 gross square feet and is a complex physical environment supporting biomedical research laboratories, research animal holding space including isolation rooms, and veterinary medical hospital space for both large and small animals. A second facility of about 36,000 gross square feet contains offices, laboratories, and animal holding space. The SVM also has off-campus facilities which provide additional instructional and research animal holding space for a variety of species. The SVM is anticipating a significant expansion, with planning expected to begin in 2018 and construction to start in 2020.
Must have the ability to pass a federal background check in order to access high level biohazardous facilities.
