Position Summary: The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a research associate position. The individual hired for this position will join a dynamic team of investigators conducting research in the areas of cancer prevention and health communication. Research-related activities will include some combination of data collection and analyses, database management, research project management, administrative activities, grant support, manuscript writing, and presentation development. The individual in this position will collaborate with investigators across multiple University departments, centers, and schools. The position requires substantial capacity to independently manage and coordinate research activities across multiple projects. He/she must have excellent interpersonal/management skills as the position will require substantial communication and coordination with a variety of individuals. He/she must be able to develop plans for project implementation and coordination with colleagues at other research sites outside of UNC. He/she must be experienced at interacting and working with diverse, vulnerable populations. He/she should have experience in research related to cancer screening as well as literature review, synthesis, and professional writing. The person in this position should have strong scientific and professional writing skills, and will be expected to contribute to study proposals, reports, compliance issues, and manuscripts for publication, and works with other members of the research team to develop and integrate their work into final products.

Education Requirements: Completion of a Master's degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field plus a minimum of three years prior research experience, including experience coordinating a study and a research team.
Qualification and Experience: This position requires a substantial capacity to work independently in a complex research environment. Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and writing skills are required. Also important is the ability to think critically and creatively, to help plan the work of others, and to work collaboratively with others. An interest in clinical preventive services and/or patient safety, and a facility with a range of software is desirable. Commitment to and skills in working with diverse populations is desirable.
