Tenure-Track Position in Accounting
Trinity Christian College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Accounting beginning in August 2018 or January 2019 (open rank). Trinity is an ACBSP accredited business program with a track record of graduating successful accountants who are CPA exam ready. Trinity graduates have distinguished themselves with high CPA pass rates and scores as compared to other Illinois colleges and universities. Trinity’s accounting interns and graduates have found success in a variety of firms throughout the Chicago area and beyond.
Qualified candidates will possess at least a CPA certification and a related master’s degree, but a D.B.A. or Ph.D. is preferred. ABD candidates close to receiving their degree may also apply. The following strengths will be viewed favorably: previous teaching experience, related professional experience, and a strong commitment to teaching and advising.
Trinity seeks faculty who are committed Christians able to articulate the relationship between their discipline, the preparation and future vocations of their students, and the Christian faith, especially as it has been shaped by the Reformed tradition of Christianity. Faculty members are also dedicated to personal involvement with students outside the classroom, including advising, social interaction, and informal academic and cultural settings, as well as with professionals who can complement the Trinity experience. Trinity particularly welcomes applications from candidates who have professional or personal narratives that reflect diverse perspectives, as well as those who have engagement with issues relevant for preparing students to work and live with intercultural competence and compassion.
This position requires a student-centered approach to teaching, using active and experiential learning to engage students. Specific duties include teaching Principles of Accounting and Intermediate Accounting, as well as upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Additional duties include assistance with student career development, internship supervision, academic advising, scholarly and professional development activities, ensuring program is CPA exam compliant, and contribution to the development of the department and college. Finally, Trinity seeks an applicant who can join the Business Department in developing robust networks in the Chicagoland area, thus opening doors to students and advancing the mission of the department and the college.
