Position Summary:

Serves as cashier for the University & provides backup to Student Accounts office.


  • Assist customers at customer service window

  • Answer and direct (if necessary) incoming telephone calls

  • Process payments on student accounts

  • Process departmental and electronic deposits

  • Balance cash drawer and update Daily Cash Report

  • Prepare daily bank deposits

  • Disburse, balance and bill for student emergency loans

  • Disburse and control for departmental advance funds

  • Disburse petty cash reimbursements and advances

  • Monitor and process NSF transactions

  • Perform collection efforts on balances due from former students

  • Process payments from collection agencies and track balances due

  • Performing other duties as assigned


Education and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalency required. Two years of college with coursework in accounting, finance, and Microsoft Excel preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of three years of cash handling, customer service, accounts receivables or equivalent experience required; additional years of experience preferred.


Candidates must have:

  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to receive remittances, make correct change, and issue proper receipts accurately and promptly.

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and be able to meet deadlines.

  • Strong proficiency with technology, especially Microsoft Excel. Ability to quickly learn new computer skills is essential.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and have the ability to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent record keeping and file maintenance skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as to establish and maintain harmonious relations with staff, faculty, students, and parents.

  • Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing equity and diversity.


  • Two years of college with course work in accounting, bookkeeping, and Microsoft Excel (or equivalent education/training)
  • Additional years of experience
  • Cash handling or banking experience
  • Higher education experience


Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm
