Job Summary


The Online Course Developer develops online course(s) that conform to the best practices of the corresponding subject area and distance learning pedagogy. The position plans and designs content and selects assessment strategies to support the course's learning objectives.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Identifies and generates high quality content including text, videos, images, and interactive exercises that will serve as the primary content for the course in alignment with the course's competencies and learning outcomes
  • Organizes and delivers the content using the Virtual College's Quality Matters course template
  • Participates in regular review and quality assurance sessions with assigned Instructional Designer
  • Meets all agreed upon timeframes for deliverable and deliverable reviews
  • Creates formative and summative assessments to measure student learning outcomes
  • Develops high level critical thinking discussion forums
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the discipline or; Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution and eighteen (18) graduate credit hours in discipline with high achievement
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess exceptional skills in developing course content
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
