Reporting to the Provost, the Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs handles a wide range of responsibilities of institutional importance on behalf of the Provost and is charged with the creation and oversight of a comprehensive and integrated program that supports student success. Toward that goal, the AP for Academic Affairs will lead multiple initiatives of the President and Provost in the area of student success and retention.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Master's degree or higher.
  • 10 years of experience within Academic Affairs.
  • Documented knowledge of student retention strategies and experience in implementing and assessing those strategies.
  • Documented ability to work well with faculty in promoting institutional goals.
  • Documented ability to work with other staff units on campus.
  • Positive attitude and initiative to problem solve independently within organization guidelines and policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a broad strategic framework and institutional priorities.
  • Evidence of excellent leadership, customer service, communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher and 10 years of experience within Academic Affairs.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate.
  • The ability to advance new approaches to serving students through enhanced use of technology.
  • Familiarity with best practices pertaining to increasing student retention and success.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse student, staff, and faculty constituencies.
  • The personal attributes needed to relate well to faculty and students.

Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions
Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
