Dept. of Anthropology, Instructor/Assistant Professor (Full-time, Temporary, 1 Year)
Department Summary: The Anthropology Department provides a strong liberal arts curriculum aimed at developing well-rounded, informed citizens with strong critical thinking abilities. Department programs also impart skills to students, preparing them for a wide range of professions.
Essential Duties: The Anthropology Department invites applications for a full-time, temporary one-year position in Anthropological Archaeology with a geographic expertise in Eastern North America. The successful candidate will begin in the Fall semester of 2018. We seek an individual with a demonstrated ability to teach a range of undergraduate courses in a broad-based anthropology program with a 4/4 teaching load. Courses offered must include ANTH 103: Introduction to Archaeology and ANTH 328: Archaeology of North America. Preference will be given to applicant who can offer our students archaeological field experience and be able to teach ANTH 303/504: Archaeological Field Excavation in Prehistoric Sites in New England. The appointment also includes advising students pursuing the Public Archaeology Concentration. Courses may be offered on the main campus in Bridgewater or at satellite campuses in Attleboro and on Cape Cod.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Archaeology required. Teaching experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Archaeology strongly preferred. Preference will be given to applicant who can offer our students archaeological field experience and be able to teach ANTH 303/504: Archaeological Field Excavation in Prehistoric Sites in New England.
