Academic Student Support Program Director

Job description

The Academic Student Support Program Director reports to the Dean of the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing (HBSON) and provide administrative leadership and oversight for the development of clinical placement at the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing. The Director will work collaboratively with HBSON Undergraduate Program and Graduate Program Teams to establish the clinical placements required in each specialty area.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Researching and acquiring new clinical sites and establishing relationships with nursing staff and preceptors at these sites. Monitor and oversee affiliation agreements for student placements. Negotiate articulation agreements.

Partner and collaborate closely with the Director of Clinical Faculty to create and maintain an effective nursing clinical placement program for Hunter College.

Implement, monitor, and assess program initiatives in an ever-changing education environment to ensure that services are effectively tailored and implemented.

Develop and oversee a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical sites to analyze student progress through the clinical training portion of the nursing curriculum; working with the Dean to improve and reconfigure clinical site selection.

Collaborate with program coordinators and other faculty to ensure that clinical placements are arranged in advance for each semester and notify faculty in a timely fashion when an issue arises.

Manage various systems to document student completion for certification purposes; as well as, preceptor involvement, programming, and enrollment.

Lead and supervise staff, establishing unit goals and staff development.

Work with licensing authorities to ensure licensing regulations related to instructional curriculum are met.

Conducts risk assessments that responds to the need of the community and industry.

Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.

Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.

Directs a comprehensive student support program.

  • Develops, recommends, and implements program goals and objectives to meet students' specialized needs and develops a range of responsive programs
  • Oversees the integration of diverse services with internal and external partners to meet a broad range of student needs
  • Collaborates with academic and student support departments to ensure students are utilizing available services and programming; collaborates with counselors, mentors, and others assisting students
  • Collects data for, analyzes, and reports on activities and outcomes, recommending program improvements; writes proposals and reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Directs all service operations, facilities, and staff
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
