Responsibilities

Maintains oversight of all Grounds activities for Innovation Park, Alumni Village, and other off-campus properties as determined by the business needs of the department.
Responsible for managing and overseeing personnel and material resources related to Grounds' maintenance of Innovation Park, Alumni Village, and other off-campus properties as determined by the business needs of the department. Supervises, trains, and evaluates work performance of staff assigned to maintain off-campus properties. Directs work of groundskeepers, equipment operators, mowers, irrigation techs and other personnel necessary to maintain the grounds at Innovation Park and off-campus properties.
Assists with the recruitment and employment separation processes, communicates with appropriate supervisory personnel and HR regarding disciplinary investigations, and makes commendations for all assigned personnel. Prepares employee performance evaluations. Reviews and approves requests for leave and reviews time and leave records for accuracy.
Tours Innovation Park and off-campus properties, investigates irrigation malfunctions, ensures completed mowing and other grounds maintenance, makes assignments, and inspects work locations of employees to ensure personnel are performing their duties in a safe and effective manner. Provides leadership and directs corrective measures when necessary to ensure satisfactory performance. May oversee activities of contractors, vendor personnel, and suppliers when applicable. Develops, prepares, and monitors annual budget for the work unit.
Directs the preparation of flowerbeds for growing annuals as requested by the Planting Crew Supervisor. Assists crews with maintenance, mowing, and irrigation repair tasks as needed. Directs the maintenance of surface drainage and ensures catch basins are free of debris during heavy rain events. Serves as or provides an emergency contact person for after hour callbacks.
Establishes and updates necessary files, documents, records, and reports related to preventative maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment. Operates University vehicles as necessary. Other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and four years' experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)
Experience and the ability to effectively train and direct the work of others.
Experience or knowledge of and the ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Experience with landscaping and groundskeeping techniques.
Experience or knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape architecture.
Experience or knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
