Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The Center for the Study of Disasters & Emergency Management (CDEM), within the Department of Political Science at Sam Houston State University, invites applications for a 12-month post-doctoral position beginning fall 2018 with the possibility of an additional year. The successful candidate will pursue research related to disasters (broadly defined) and/or emergency management, support faculty and staff in the growth of CDEM as an interdisciplinary research center, and teach a 2/2 load of online and/or blended courses. Teaching subfields are open; however, those able to teach topics relevant to the department’s online MA, MPA, and/or undergraduate programs are encouraged to apply.

Educational Requirements for the Position

Applicants must have a PhD in political science, public administration, public policy, international relations, or public affairs from an accredited university or institution of higher-education.

Experience Required for the Position

The department seeks a scholar with research experience in disasters and/or emergency management. Those with grant experience are strongly encouraged to apply. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience teaching online courses and/or express a willingness to teach online.
