The Counselor serves as academic counselor/advisor, personal counselor, career counselor and helps with coordination of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) activities for Wharton County Junior College (WCJC). Duties of the Counselor include personal and academic counseling with vocational and academic students, participates in campus recruitment events, student retention efforts, organizing special activities and events, and new student orientation activities. This position may office at any of the WCJC campuses as assigned by supervisor.
This position requires a Master's degree in counseling and guidance, psychology, or social work required and two (2) years current full time work experience in counseling and/or academic advising in a college environment. Licensed Professional Counseling license required. This position requires the individual be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. A criminal background check is also required.
