Sinai Health System (SHS), Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, in partnership with the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, is seeking a full-time physician as a Clinician Teacher with demonstrated excellence and subspecialty training in maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) to join a multidisciplinary team that provides high-quality, patient-centred obstetrical care within the Markham Stouffville community and beyond. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2018.

Sinai Health System in Toronto is a leader in Maternal Fetal Medicine, with one of the largest programs and services in Canada. It is a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, an institute of international recognition in which research in Women and Infants' health forms a major component. The Division supports a large Fetal Ultrasound, Prenatal Diagnosis Program, Fetal Therapy Program, Placenta Program, Prevention of Prematurity Program and Medical Disorders of Pregnancy Program. The Division services a population catchment area in excess of 6.5 million people.

The ideal candidate will be collegial and committed to providing an exceptional caliber of patient care at MSH. Desirable qualities in the successful candidate could include Master's level or higher graduate training in an area such as clinical epidemiology, quality improvement/patient safety, knowledge translation or related topic. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in general MFM activities such as inpatient management of high-risk transfers, MFM on call duties and fetal ultrasound. The candidate will be expected to focus his/her clinical, research and educational activity in MFM and participate in collaborative quality improvement and research projects between the 2 hospital sites.

As a new member of the department, the successful candidate will:
• Participate in the on-call roster for obstetrics and gynecology
• Provide the full scope of OB/GYN services
• Practice within the catchment area of Markham Stouffville Hospital
• Participate in departmental meetings and as an active participant in best practice advancements, quality improvements and patient safety initiatives
• Be supportive of the large Midwifery practice at MSH
• Be committed to a low Caesarean Section rate and participating actively in all patient quality initiatives
• Be willing to provide hospital clinic services 2 days per week at the main hospital site
• As MSH serves a diverse community, fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, Farsi or an Indian dialect would be viewed as an asset

The qualified applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the RCPSC, and be a Fellow of RCPSC with the designation of F.R.C.S.C. (MFM), and must hold an MD degree, be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment with the University of Toronto's Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will promote and demonstrate excellence in professional practice and conduct.
