ADVANCED PRACTICE RESEARCH NURSE

Duties: Become a member of our dedicated and collegial clinical research team and make a difference every day in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. The Penn Memory Center is a National Institute on Aging designated research center recognized for conducting innovative research to discover better methods to diagnose and treat Alzheimer's disease. We are hiring an Advanced Practice Research Nurse, specifically a Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, to assist in or lead these studies. In addition, the Advanced Practice Research Nurse will assist the Penn Memory Center physicians in the care of their patients, including prescription management, triage clinical calls, manage family and patient queries, follow-up visits, and urgent care visits. This Monday - Friday daytime position offers a great deal of independence to manage the care of your patients in a team setting.
As an Advanced Practice Research Nurse in the Penn Memory Center, you will become a member of a very collaborative multi-disciplinary team of neurologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, social workers, neuropsychologists, research coordinators who work together to develop innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's.
In this position you will challenge yourself on a daily basis as you develop your clinical skills and medical knowledge base by working with patients and families you will follow closely and with whom you will develop unique relationships
As an Advanced Practice Research Nurse you will work on state of the art clinical trials and the PMC Aging Brain Cohort Study, a large (400 person) longitudinal cohort study. Duties for these studies include consenting, screening and enrolling eligible subjects, managing the treatment of patients throughout their study participation including education about any adverse effects they might experience, provide oversight and coordination of research testing and follow-up, perform neurologic and physical examinations and in some cases, administer experimental medications.

The typical hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 and is dependent upon the candidates' credentials.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing with 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Certified registered Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant with licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (without restriction or limitation). Must qualify for prescription authority. Experience with a geriatric or memory impaired population is highly preferred.

Effective problem solving abilities, effective communication and writing skills, strong organizational skills; flexible/adaptable and able to multi-task; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations.
