Faculty Relations Manager

Full/Part Time Full-Time
Provides support in the achievement of strategic goals and objectives of Clemson University by building, administering, and maintaining harmonious faculty relations to foster a productive workforce and academic environment. Serves as the primary contact and resource to faculty members to address a variety of services including the resolution of employment-related conflicts, disputes, complaints, and inquiries, as well as interpretation and application of applicable policies and procedures, in an independent and neutral environment. Provides training and recommendations on employee relations issues. Implements programs to continuously improve employee relations and HR processes and services. Performs other duties as assigned.
Advising: 35% - Essential
Serves as a primary faculty relations manager to investigate and manage complaints from faculty and supervisors. Interviews parties involved and makes findings and recommendations regarding resolution. Reviews disciplinary actions to ensure compliance with appropriate policies and procedures.
Collaboration: 25% - Essential
Partners with the Office of the Provost on faculty concerns that bridge both the academic and employment areas. Develops strategies and practices that align with the direction of Clemson Forward and foster an engaging, supportive academic environment in conjunction with work from the Provost's Office.
Consulting: Facilitates conflict resolution, especially when the conflict is not well suited to the voluntary, informal, and confidential services of the Faculty Ombuds Office. Makes referrals to other on-campus resources. Serves as a member of the exit interview team using trend information to consult with area department/college supervision. 25% - Essential
Training and Compliance: Assists with other employee relations and compliance issues such as unemployment claims, hearings, grievances and programs requiring implementation due to new and changing State or Federal laws. Provides training on HR policies and procedures and assists with the Employee Assistance Program offerings. 10% - Essential
Special Projects: 5% - Essential
Works with team to develop and implement special projects to drive University and divisional goals.
A bachelor's degree and experience in human resources management programs.
Comprehensive Job Knowledge - Comprehensive knowledge of theories and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
