Minimum Education/Experience: Master's degree in counseling, adult education, or discipline related to responsibilities of the position, or bachelors' degree and five years of directly related experience. Five years of professional experience in student services for adult learners a the college or university level. Excellent human relations skills necessary to work effectively with a diverse student body and as a member of a professional team.

Job Duties: The Academic Advisor is responsible for delivering and/or coordinating all aspects of the services offered to learners, including, but not limited to, undergraduate and graduate admissions, orientation, registration, academic advising, counseling, career services, learning resources, and technical support. The Advisor plans, manages, implements, and assesses all student services delivered by the Office of Continuing Studies through collaboration with other university support services, such as Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Life.- Provides support services for currently enrolled DE students by monitoring the dedicated email account ([email protected]) and (800) number, which serves as a bridge for students away from the campus and the administrative and academic offices located on campus. - Provides backup to the student services counselor who works with the prospective student email account ([email protected]) when they are out of the office. - Works with multiple offices across campus, such as Financial Aid, Registrar's, Admissions, and Cashiers to problem solve issues for DE students. - Contacts newly admitted DE students to counsel them online the services that are available to them, such as the Options website and the administrative processes that the campus has to offer. - Is able to successfully manage the Banner database system to assist student and faculty with any questions they may have regarding when DE students are coded in Banner and also registration issues. - Exhibits a high level of quality and professionalism when dealing with students and departments across campus with confidential matters.
