Wittenberg is a NCAA Division III institution participating in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and offers a broad-based intercollegiate athletics program with 24 varsity teams and numerous club and intramural opportunities. Annually, Wittenberg places among the top four in the North Coast Athletic Conference All-sports standings.
Wittenberg University is seeking applications for a Head Softball Coach. The position is responsible for managing all aspects of an NCAA Division III athletic program and will interact effectively and appropriately with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, administrators, peers, and community members. The Coach will evaluate prospects, maintain and ensure student-athlete academic integrity, demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Wittenberg University and Division III athletics, and comply with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate practice and game-day preparation, scheduling, and execution.
- Recruit & graduate student-athletes for the softball program.
- Engage parents, alumni, and community members.
- Ensure fiscal management for the sport.
- Hire, train, and supervise staff and student-workers.
- Provide service to the Institution as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
- Adhere to NCAA, conference, departmental, and university policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Other duties as requested.
For this position, we require that candidates have a bachelor's degree, previous collegiate playing experience, and 1-3 years of previous collegiate coaching experience.
Travel is required as well as some evening and weekend work. A valid driver's license with good driving record is also required.
Knowledge in the following technologies is preferred: Microsoft office, athletic video and performance review software (i.e. Hudl, Synergy), social media, recruiting software (i.e. Frontrush).
