Clinical Instructor in Anatomic Pathology
The University of Illinois' College of Veterinary Medicine's Zoological Pathology Program (ZPP) based in Chicago invites applications for a full-time, 12-month appointment, Instructor. ZPP consists of 5 faculty members all of whom are ACVP Diplomates, 3 residents in anatomic pathology, 1 graduate (Ph.D.) student, 1 technician and an administrative assistant. ZPP provides comprehensive diagnostic services to three Chicago zoological institutions (Chicago Zoological Society's Brookfield Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo and the Shedd Aquarium) as well as local, national and international wildlife agencies and conservation organizations. ZPP faculty deliver core and elective courses within the second and fourth year of the professional curriculum and at the graduate level. ZPP also has a molecular diagnostic and research laboratory.

Requirements: Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the American College of Veterinary Pathologists board certification examination and are an ACVP Diplomate in good standing. Candidates must have a DVM degree or equivalent, successfully completed the ACVP Phase I examination, and have completed at least 2 years of training in anatomic pathology. Experience with pathology of non-domestic species is preferred.
Duties: This position is a 100% appointment in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The appointment will be full time and will be a non-tenured, academic position with a starting date on or about January 1, 2018. Faculty members are expected to perform the full range of designated faculty responsibilities-teaching, research/scholarly activities, diagnostic/clinical service, outreach/public engagement and university service. The successful candidate will function primarily in the areas of diagnostic services and teaching. Service duties include necropsy examinations, surgical pathology and pathology consultations with clinicians at allied institutions, referring veterinarians and consulting biologists. After hours and weekend duty will be shared with other ZPP faculty in an equitable manner. Teaching duties will include instruction of veterinary students, pathology residents and graduate students. Creative scholarly activity may include pathology support for collaborative research projects or publications of case reports/series. Assignment of duties is expected to be 70% service, 25% teaching, and 5% creative scholarly activity.
