Director, Collegiate Recovery Community
The Director of the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) provides high level leadership in developing and growing efforts related to students in recovery at the University of Denver. The CRC at the University of Denver is a brand new iniative to support students in recovery, The CRC will be a community for students who are in recovery from substance use disorders. The Director will support this initiative through creating a campus-based infrastructure to empower recovering students by providing support, preventing relapse, and promoting academic performance. The CRC will offer a community lounge, alcohol and drug free social events, sober housing options, support meetings, peer mentoring, and educational seminars and events. The CRC is a supportive environment within the campus culture that reinforces the decision to pursue sobriety. It is designed to provide academic excellence alongside recovery support to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.
The Director will provide strategic oversight of all operations of the Collegiate Recovery Center including budget, managing the CRC, student learning and development, recovery support networks, evaluations and assessment, marketing, and personnel management. This position will not provide clinical services for students in recovery. Rather, the Director will focus on nurturing a community for students in recovery from alcohol and other drugs. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the execution of sober social events and opportunities for students to engage in the DU and Denver community. Additionally, the Director will assist in the offering of recovery programming on campus including 12-step and other recovery meetings.
This is a full-time, 40 hour a week, 10-12 month (flexible), benefited position and reports to the Executive Director of the Health and Counseling Center. This position will require occasional after hour and weekend commitments. The anticipated start date for this role is July 1, 2018; this date is flexible.

- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience working with adolescents / young adults in recovery from alcohol or other drugs
- Leadership experience including supervising others
- Multiculturally competent, excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Inclusive Excellence
- Advanced training and competence in addictions
- Master's or Terminal degree in a related field
- Experience starting or working with a collegiate recovery community on a college campus
- Prior research experience
