The University of Colorado's Center for Health and Addiction: Neuroscience, Genes and Environment (CUChange) has an available position to process biological samples and contribute to translational research. We are a motivated team that conducts transdisciplinary research exploring factors linked with health and risk behavior in regard to exercise, Cannabis use, and alcohol consumption. We seek a full-time research assistant to aid in the collection and processing of biological samples, biomarker data quality control and management, and human subjects research support as necessary. Candidates should possess a bachelor's in MCDB, BIOCHEM, or equivalent degree and skillset. This position is well suited for a recent graduate pursuing a career in laboratory management, translational human subjects research, or other biomedical research. Expected responsibilities: DNA extraction from whole blood, lipopolysaccharide stimulation of whole blood, isolation of plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells from whole blood, bead-based ELISA, PCR methods, freezer upkeep, data management and quality control, and human subject research visit support. Work will take place in Boulder with occasional trips to the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

Required qualifications include the following:

-Experience handling biohazardous materials such as human blood, stool, and saliva samples

-Experience working with hazardous chemicals

-Experience operating various laboratory equipment including, but not limited to, swinging bucket/micro centrifuge, multichannel/single channel pipettes, biological safety cabinet, cell counter, and cell incubator

-Strong communication and organizational skills

-Ability to work collaboratively with study staff, postdoctoral researchers, undergraduates, principle investigators, and other laboratories

Preferred qualifications include the following:

-Ability to extract DNA from whole blood samples

-Ability to extract peripheral blood mononuclear cells from whole blood

-Experience with qPCR, real time PCR, sandwich ELISA, bead-based ELISA, and Flow Cytometry

-Experience working with human research participants

-REDCap project design and management

-Automated data management utilizing application programming interface (API) functionality

-Literacy in R/RStudio
