Degree and Area of Specialization:

A bachelor's degree in any business, science, or biotechnology field is preferred.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills are necessary. Excellent organizational and task management skills and the ability to adapt to changing deadlines.

The ideal candidate will possess a range of experience including, but not limited to:
- Experience with pre- and post- award administration.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiently with software and web-based programs including Microsoft Office and Google applications with the ability and willingness to learn other platforms as needed
- Experience updating and maintaining websites using software such as WordPress and social media accounts
- Demonstrated initiative, problem solving skills, and ability to work independently
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to produce quality work of considerable complexity in a timely and efficient manner

Position Summary:

Coon Laboratory develops and applies mass spectrometric technology to study human health. We use these tools to answer fundamental questions in cell biology and to study human diseases including Alzheimer's, diabetes, heart failure, cancer, obesity, asthma, among several others. The research team currently consists of twelve Ph.D. students, two postdoctoral fellows, two undergraduate researchers, and six staff scientists.

This position will serve as the administrative manager of the NIH Center for Quantitative Biology of Complex Systems (NCQBCS), an NIH Biotechnology Research Resource that is the central focus of the Coon Laboratory. This center has the mission of developing new technologies to make whole proteome analysis faster and broadly accessible. In addition to our technology development mission, we apply these technologies to various biomedical problems through collaboration. For those seeking to learn basic proteomic methodology or advanced training in our techniques, we offer hands-on learning experiences. This position is expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups at all levels of the organization to advance the mission of the center while working independently using initiative, creativity, and judgment to manage projects and solve problems.
