Degree and Area of Specialization:
Master's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least 5-10 years in higher education or another complex organization with experience in management and/or program planning.
* Leadership experience in higher education or another complex organization in the area of diversity and inclusion * Leadership experience in minority, student or academic affairs * Leadership experience in supervision and administrative services
License or certificate:
The Assistant Vice Provost (AVP) will work closely with the Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer (VPCDO) to: 1) lead and manage the Posse and First Wave student scholarship and support service programs, 2) assist with coordinating the division's efforts to implement the Strategic Diversity Framework (http://diversityframework.wisc.edu/documents.htm), and 3) lead and manage divisional administrative functions related to the Office for Equity & Diversity and the administrative project managers and researchers. The AVP will also assist in providing strategic leadership and support for engaging internal and external constituents of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement (DDEEA) and occasionally be called upon to stand in for the VPCDO at meetings of shared governance bodies and in other public settings.
