Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academics and oversight provided by the Executive Director of Student Affairs, serves as student affairs coordinator and provides related academic support and student services.

Provides academic advising for graduate students. Responsible for managing student records; student advising and registration processes, programs of study revisions, monitor degree progression, and assists with graduation certifications.

Manages student academic records from matriculation to graduation via College of Nursing and/or university databases.

In collaboration with the Graduate Admissions and Special Events Manager, assists with graduate student events.

Collaborates with Office of Student Affairs team for prospective graduate nursing student information session, orientations and other CON events as needed. Assists with external graduate student recruitment strategies and implementation.

In consultation with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies and specialty Program Directors, provides oversight for doctoral examinations and defenses. Provides follow-up verification documents for all graduates.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 4 years related experience, or bachelor's degree and 6 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred. University of South Carolina and/or College of Nursing experience to include knowledge and experience of USC Banner, GMS, Content Manager, BDMS, Self Service Carolina and CON CENTRAL database.


Ability to interpret and institute University, and College policies and procedures with discretion. Skills to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively. Strong management skills. Requires proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Banner, GMS, Content Manager, BDMS, Self Service Carolina, and CON CENTRAL database.
