Duties: The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.

The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the 'go-to' organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

We are currently looking for a Lab Resources Manager support lab operations and procurement activities.

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Operations, you will partner with the internal finance team to streamline the purchasing procedure. You will place orders for supplies and equipment needed, utilizing the Penn system and accurately allocate expenses to appropriate accounts. You will develop relationships with Supply vendors, negotiate the best prices for supplies, personally address any issues with orders, and improve the overall supply chain experience. You will oversee receiving, storage, and distribution of supplies and enhance the process of organizing supplies and maintain order in the stockrooms. You will improve upon current inventory control methods by tracking/trending inventory for you to forecast supply needs and also assist in the implementation of an electronic inventory management system. You will have 2 or more direct reports, providing training, supervision, and being responsible for recruitment and performance management needs.

You will also assist in the maintenance of asset and equipment database of over 500 items and provide on-call emergency response for equipment issues on a rotating basis.

Qualifications: * An Associate's degree and 3 to 5 years of direct laboratory experience, including experience in laboratory operations (preferably in the biological sciences).
* Experience with ordering scientific supplies and working with supply inventories.
* Clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
* Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
* Customer service oriented with the ability to deal with multiple constituencies (faculty, technicians, vendors, University departments, etc.).
* Must thrive in a team environment.

Knowledge of University of Pennsylvania policies and processes; established MS Excel and/or databasing knowledge; familiarity with formal inventory systems; basic understanding of laboratory safety practices.
