Position Summary: This is a lead IT Systems Programmer/Specialist position in ITS Data Center Operations. The candidate will perform technical work of various types, including installing, configuring, administering and supporting operating systems, software applications/tools required by ITS Data Center Operations and ITS Enterprise Operations, to support the business requirements of ITS and University Business Units, including specialized and complex communications software, data center software, life safety software, encryption/security software, along with various layered products.

Education Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or a - Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or an Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or Networking Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional one year of education or experience. - Advanced level requires an additional two years of education or experience.

Qualification and Experience: Essential Skills: - Experience in an IT Enterprise, supporting large, complex infrastructure, data center and network operations. - The candidate must be well-versed in a range of technical areas including, data center operations, infrastructure security, IT audits, application administration, tier 2-4 technical support, IT asset management, network & telecommunications infrastructure management. - Practical experience developing solutions for an IT Enterprise and likewise leading IT projects to successful completion. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must. - Excellent oral & written communication skills along with strong interpersonal, planning and organizing skills. - High attention to detail and excellent critical & analytical thinking skills are required, as is the ability to multi-task. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in a 24/7/365 IT Operations or IT Data Centers or other IT Critical Facilities. - Extensive practical experience with server and application administration on both Linux & Windows. - Practical real-world experience with secure file transfer methods, interpreting ACLs, understanding firewall traffic flows and extensive knowledge of encryption/decryption techniques. - Experience with IT monitoring tools, such as BMC TrueSight, CA Spectrum/UIM, Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix or Zenoss, monitoring basic server health, in addition to advanced synthetic transactions and authenticated web checks. - Development experience in an IT environment, supporting DCIM applications. - Development in various languages such as, C#/C++, HTML/DHTML, Java, JavaScript, PERL, PHP or - Experience creating Linux/UNIX shell scripts and Windows batch/shell scripting is a plus. - Experience with standards & procedures development, along with version, source control and change management products. - Experience with IT process automation or workload automation is a plus.
