Duties: The Assistant Chaplain will work alongside the staff of the Office of the Chaplain/Spiritual and Religious Life Center (SPARC) in the University's efforts to curate religious life, encourage spiritual wellness, promote religious literacy, and care for the Penn community in a range of ways through the paradigm of religious and spiritual life.
While being a pastoral presence at SPARC and on campus, the Assistant Chaplain will primarily serve the Penn community by supporting and growing the programmatic efforts of the office/center. This will include current programs as well as developing new offerings for the Penn community. In addition, the Assistant Chaplain will assist in coordinating the monthly gatherings of the Penn Religious Communities Council (PRCC) in conjunction with the University Chaplain, manage the office's social media, web, and podcast presence, regularly attend the events and services of a diverse range of campus and community groups, and serve as a pastoral presence in other aspects of the chaplaincy as needed.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred and some work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in either chaplaincy or related professions strongly preferred. Experience developing and implementing programming. Excellent oral and written communications skills; Experience managing variety of social media preferred. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
