Job Summary:

An exciting opportunity exists in the Maunsell laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Chicago. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual to provide technical and administrative support for a research team studying how the visual world is represented in the cerebral cortex.

The laboratory is located on the main campus of The University of Chicago, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois

  • Assisting in studies on perception and cortical computations
  • Animal training, colony management
  • Surgical procedures
  • Managing day-to-day lab operations
  • Maintaining and ordering supplies and equipment

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team required
  • Excellent computer, recording keeping, interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Requirements

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • A B.S. or B.A. in neuroscience, biology or a field relevant to the research being conducted required.

  • Relevant research experience required, experience in mouse colony management and surgical procedures preferred.

  • Occasional weekend hours.
