El Instituto: Institute of Latina/o, Caribbean, and Latin American Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a Lecturer to teach 6 or 7 undergraduate level courses during the 2018-19 academic year. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track appointment with teaching responsibilities and administrative tasks such as help with advising, and development of distance learning initiatives. Over the course of this appointment, the lecturer will be expected to teach multiple sections of LLAS 1190/HIST 1600 Introduction to Latin America and the Caribbean, in both large-enrollment and writing intensive formats, as well as two courses of their choosing from LLAS courses that already exist in their discipline. We are particularly interested in scholars trained in Anthropology and/or History.

Possible courses other than LLAS 1190/HIST 1600 include:

History of Modern Mexico

History of Migration in Las Americas

Contemporary Latin America

The Caribbean

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

An earned PhD by November 1, 2018 or terminal degree in an area relevant to the field; and previous teaching experience in an institution of higher education.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a temporary, nine-month appointment. Compensation is commensurate with background and qualifications. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2018.
