The Toppel Career Center’s mission is to empower and connect students to achieve a lifetime of career fulfillment. We are looking for a passionate and innovative individual to join our highly motivated team within a fast-­‐paced environment. The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Programs will work with the Toppel Career Center to provide career and professional development related activities and programs for University of Miami students. This position is responsible for creating tailored programming to meet the needs of our graduate student population. Additionally, this role will support the efforts of the Associate Director of Career Readiness by facilitating sessions of the center's career readiness program, Professional Development Academy. Reporting directly to the Director of Career Education, the Assistant Director will lead the center’s efforts to build meaningful relationships with our graduate school staff and faculty as well as be responsible for other key liaison relationships across campus between student affairs, academic affairs, and the Toppel Career Center.

Assessment and Program Development
•Manage all programs, workshops, and individual and group advising for graduate students (excluding MBA, Law and Medicine).
•Assess needs of graduate students, and develop and implement comprehensive career services programs based on findings.
•Work closely with the Graduate School and Graduate Programs staffs to plan career-­‐related programs and events.
•Evaluate existing resources and identify and coordinate new resources to meet the needs of the graduate student community.
•Serve as the primary liaison between the Toppel Career Center and the Graduate School, Graduate Student Association, and Graduate Student Council.

•Provide one-­‐on-­‐one and small group career advising to support students and alumni in exploring skills and interests, identifying values and goals and how they relate to career paths, the graduate school application process, identifying resources within an industry or area of interest, and searching for jobs and internships with undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni.
•Assist students in developing interviewing skills and self-­‐awareness through one-­‐on-­‐one practice interview coaching and career assessment review sessions.

Relationship Building
•Collaborate with the Directors of Graduate Studies in various academic units to identify appropriate career resources and implement needed programs and services.
•Provide opportunities for students to network with employers through presentations, workshops, and career events.
•Develop collaborative relationships with Academic and Non-­‐Academic departments within the University with the goal of improving career opportunities and resources for undergraduate and graduate students.
•Provide outreach to faculty, student organizations, and alumni through presentations and classroom outreach.
•Develop marketing strategies for programming efforts.

Career Readiness Initiatives
•Assist Associate Director of Career Readiness in reviewing, evaluating, and enhancing Professional Development Academy curriculum.
•Facilitate and lead Professional Development classroom sessions.
•Support Associate Director of Career Readiness with various aspects of the career readiness initiatives of the Toppel Career Center.

General Duties
•Serve as liaison to academic schools/colleges and other departments as established with the Director of Career Education.
•Co-­‐coordinate career programs with Career Education staff for students and alumni.
•Assist in the department’s student assessment measures, including needs assessments and satisfaction surveys.
•Participate in ongoing meetings with the Graduate School staff to facilitate communication and coordinate efforts.
•Provide assessment and outcome information to Director as needed and at the conclusion of each semester.
•Utilize social media platforms within marketing efforts (i.e. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
•Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
•At least two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred qualifications
•Master’s degree.
•At least two years of appropriate experience preferred.
