Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for an Admissions Officer.  Under the supervision of the Admissions Director, Deputy Director of Admissions and the Associate Director the Admissions Officer is responsible for the recruitment and admissions activities for the Corps of Cadets. Will be responsible for managing the assigned prospect/applicant pool throughout the applicant process; to include conversion from prospect-to-applicant-to accept status-to-matriculation. Specific focus to be placed in bringing in qualified minorities into the Corps of Cadets. Responsible for enhancing recruitment of students through all avenues focusing in secondary schools, visitations with prospects and school officials. Promotes awareness of The Citadel, the college's admissions and matriculation processes and financial air opportunities.

Counsels and advises prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, faculty, staff and other members of the college community regarding the institution, admissions and matriculation policies and procedures and the college selection process. Manages assigned prospect/applicant pool throughout the admissions process to include conversion from prospect-to-applicant-to-decision-to-matriculation. Will assist in planning, coordination, operation and evaluates assigned recruiting.


Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree is required.  The ability to work collegiality within the Admissions staff is critical. Position requires strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Strong computer skills are required. The ability to travel and willingness/ability to work flexible hours will be required for completion of duties. Admissions Officers are often the first contact prospective students and their parents have with the College; the first impression is critical. Therefore, this person must possess a high degree of professionalism & integrity.


Preferred Qualifications:

An understanding of marketing, admissions, and enrollment management principles, or experience working with high school/college students is desired, but not required. An understanding of The Citadel and the Corps of Cadets is a plus. A working knowledge of BANNER and Recruit is desired but not required.
