Dental Assistant II (Recruitment Pool)
The Dental Assistant II will provide clinical support and chair-side assistance in the treatment of dental patients in the Kornberg School of Dentistry. The Dental Assistant II will assist Residents, students and faculty in clinics; coordinate scheduling patient appointments, assist with sterilizing and maintaining equipment and instruments; run appropriate tests to monitor patient functions: and maintain logs for equipment maintenance and for other safety logs required by the University, School and Department for infection control. The Dental Assistant II will also maintain and disinfect rooms between and after patient visits; place patient records in their appropriate locations; expose and upload x-rays on the computer; and monitor and order supply inventory. The Dental Assistant II will also pour and trim dental impressions; utilize dental instruments; sterilize operator equipment such as dental infection control equipment and dental x-ray equipment; and greet patients. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
At least two years experience as a Dental Assistant. Experience with dental terminology; procedures; and diagnosis. Dental Assistant training and certification from an accredited school. Dental Radiology certification from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. CPR certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
* Demonstrated ability to provide chair-side assistance that requires manual dexterity.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with faculty, students, community members and the ability to communicate to a diverse population.
* Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and diagnosis.
* Ability to operate all standard dental instruments.
* Ability to prioritize projects and tasks and to respond to multiple requests.
* Ability to work with potential pathogens during dental assisting and sterilization procedures.
