Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

This is considered an entry-level position. One year of professional work experience is preferred. Successful candidates should have a minimum of six months of software development experience.
Well qualified candidates will possess:
- Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Knowledge of relational databases
- Full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Techinical documentation skills
- Desire to learn new techonolgies
- Programming in C# or Java
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in Agile / Scrum development methodology
- Experience with the Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern
- Experience with versoin control tools (Git, TFS, and Subversion)

Position Summary:

The Wisconsin School of Business has been integral to the University of Wisconsin since 1900. Offering several degrees and specializations in undergraduate and graduate programs, the Wisconsin School of Business continues to innovate in its delivery of learning and development of students, faculty, and research. The software developer position will leverage this innovative history to continue to drive improvement in the learning and research environment, through enhancements to our lifelong relationship management (LRM) application.

This position is a member of the broader, collaborative-driven unit Information Technology Solutions (ITS). ITS comprises technology professionals in project management, development, security, systems administration, support, and service. This position reports to the Director of ITS.

The primary focus of this position is to work closely with other team members to develop our LRM platform, based on Microsoft Dynamics 2016?s on premise CRM. This platform aligns prospective undergraduate and graduate students with learning opportunities offered by the School. The LRM platform is strategically positioned to match growing stakeholder connections to research, faculty, staff, donors, and corporate partners.
