Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Administrative Assistant to University Bands maintains the band database of current students, alumni, band clinic, and band camp. Responsible for planning all band travel for up to 400 band members, to include transportation, housing, and meals. Plan and purchase all food for home and away games for Marching Band and Basketball Pep Band. Coordinates all concert publicity with School of Music content/web writer. Processes Band Camp paperwork, orders uniforms, and communicates with new and returning band members. Assists three band directors with music, scheduling, and logistics of marching and concert bands. Responsible for mailings to High School Band Directors in surrounding states for USC Band Clinic of over 300 high school band students. Coordinates mailings, fees, meals and hotel stays for February Band Clinic and Summer Band Leadership Camp. Coordinates the USC Alumni Band rehearsal and performance at USC Football games.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree, or high school diploma and 4 years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Music/Band background helpful.


Extensive knowledge of office management policies and procedures and record keeping. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment is essential.
