The School of Education and Social Science is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice beginning in Fall, 2018. The Criminal Justice program is a fast-growing major that emphasizes experiential learning coupled with a technical focus on the profession. This includes, but is not limited to, crime analysis, crime mapping, surface through deep web investigations, police ethics, corrections, policing, juvenile delinquency, criminal justice technologies, white-collar crimes, criminal investigations, criminology, criminal law and evidence, and sex crimes. The program also stresses a multi-disciplinary approach, and has research and curricular partnerships with other academic departments on campus, including the Communication and Information Systems department and the Center for Cyber Research and Training.

The Social Sciences Department, housed in the School of Education and Social Sciences, offers undergraduate degree programs in Criminal Justice, History, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology and Social Sciences (including Social Studies Education). The department fosters collegiality and values collaboration.

This position involves teaching, conducting research, serving as an academic advisor, supervising student internships, serving on departmental and university committees, and seeking external funding for the program. A successful candidate will have strong teaching skills, an active research agenda, and practical experience in criminal justice.

Minimum Qualifications
A research-based doctoral degree (Ph.D., Sc.D.) conferred by June 1, 2018 from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Criminology or related fields, or a J.D. with at least five years of law enforcement and prosecutorial experience, is required. Expertise related to cyber-crimes, advanced police technologies, augmented reality, or criminal intelligence is preferred, as is federal, state or local law enforcement experience.
