Persons appointed in the UTeach Natural Sciences Program are non-tenured, clinical faculty members. An appointment to this position will primarily involve participation in teaching and/or supervising undergraduate and graduate students in course experiences related to field-based teacher development in science related fields. Primary responsibilities include teaching or assisting with field-based courses students take in pursuit of certification, working with local area public school teachers who act as mentors for the UTeach students and conducting field observations of the students. Additional duties will include student mentoring, participation in preparing and presenting teacher professional development, and other programmatically related tasks.
This position consists of a ten-month, non-tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of either Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate or Clinical faculty, depending upon credentials and experience.
- Master's degree
- Minimum of 5 years as a secondary STEM teacher with preference for public school experience
- Interest in participating in a professional preparation program
- Expertise in appropriate use of instructional technology
- Doctorate Degree
- Regular participation in regional, state, or national professional organizations and activities
- Professional scholarship in the form of publications and presentations
