ACADEMIC (9 months)
Degree and Area of Specialization:
PhD in German with a specialization in second language acquisition required. Native or near-native proficiency in German and English required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum five years experience teaching German at collegiate level required. Experience required in the following areas: teaching German or a related area at all curricular levels, including beginning through advanced courses and college-level second/foreign language pedagogy and teaching methods to graduate students; teaching or coordinating multi-section German courses; leading or assisting in pre-service orientation and workshops for teaching assistants; conducting classroom observations; running coordination meetings; and working with study abroad students and undergraduate residential learning communities.
License or certificate:
Teach 5 classes per academic year; direct the German International Learning Community, Stockwerk Deutsch; and assist German Language Program Director in the coordination of German courses and supervision of graduate students.
