Duties and Responsibilities Primarily responsible for the recruitment of traditional and non-traditional students. This position requires extensive travel to college and career fairs, high schools, universities, and other domestic locations. Frequent evening and weekend hours required.Works in all aspects of managing the enrollment of all students at Fairmont State University; visits high schools, vocational schools, and community colleges to recruit new students; counsels students and parents about academic programs, admissions requirements and procedures, financial aid application process, career goals and course selection; represents Fairmont State University by participating in on and off-campus recruiting events and workshops; maintains contact with high school guidance counselors to deal with their concerns and questions; sets recruiting itinerary and makes all necessary arrangements to facilitate travel and meet job obligations; coordinates campus visits for various individuals and groups including high school students, parents, middle school and elementary school students; provides input for revisions of departmental brochures and informational/recruiting materials; maintains a thorough knowledge of all academic programs and philosophies in addition to student, faculty and administrative functions; operates a personal computer for data entry and retrieval. Maintains a working knowledge of the student database system (SCT Banner) and must be well versed in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.Serve on departmental or university committees as assigned.Perform related duties and special projects as assigned or directed.
Minimum Required Education Bachelor's degree (or equivalent, as determined by HR).

Type and Amount of Experience Needed Over six and up to twelve months of experience; however, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable which provides an applicant the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities and the capability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Excellent public speaking and writing proficiencies are necessary.Ability to travel and work extended hours.Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of admissions and records policies and procedures.Ability to acquire knowledge of undergraduate and graduate curricula. Must be well versed in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks.Higher education work experience is preferred.
