Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Operations
Eastern Mennonite University, located in Virginia’s scenic Shenandoah Valley, seeks an exceptional Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations who excels in financial acumen, administrative leadership and entrepreneurial vision and will continue the university’s success in an increasingly competitive higher education environment. The CFO/VPO is responsible for the development and final preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring financial compliance, establishing internal control policies and procedures, providing strategic information concerning finances, and representing the institution in external business transactions. The CFO/VPO currently oversees the business, human resources, facilities management, information systems, and auxiliary services departments. The scope of divisional oversight is negotiable dependent on skills and experience. The CFO/VPO serves on the President’s cabinet. Qualifications: minimum of six years’ experience in financial field required, financial leadership preferred; MBA and/or CPA or equivalent certification/experience; administrative experience in financial management, budget development, supervision, and planning; track record of developing multi-year strategies to optimize an organization’s financial position; strong oral and written communication and organization and decision-making skills. The successful candidate will be skilled in developing and leading collaborative team operations. Experience working in an academic environment is desirable. Compatibility with the Mennonite faith tradition and a commitment to the mission of Eastern Mennonite University. Position begins on or around July 1, 2018.
