Head Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach / Director of Aquatics

The Albion College Department of Athletics invites applications for the position of Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach / Director of Aquatics. Albion College offers 23 intercollegiate sports as a NCAA Division III liberal arts institution and a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.  The Director of Aquatics will serve as the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach, as well as, the Director of the Aquatic Center.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a) constructing & administering swimming workouts, including conditioning, technique training and mental preparation, b) recruiting, fundraising, and budgeting for the Swimming and Diving program, c) scheduling meets, practice and open swim,  d) serving as meet manager for all home meets and arranging team meals, travel, and lodging for away meets, e) hiring, supervising, and evaluating  any Assistant Swim and Diving Coaches, f) purchasing supplies, scheduling maintenance and maintaining Health Department records for the Aquatic Center, g) organize and maintain a community membership program for the Aquatics Center.  Must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds. This is a full-time 10 month appointment that begins as soon as possible.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in collegiate coaching or 4-5 years combined experience as a collegiate swimmer and competitive coach
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Experience recruiting
  • Experience maintaining and managing an aquatics center
  • Excellent knowledge of stroke mechanics and conditioning techniques
  • Must have a valid, or be eligible to obtain, a Michigan driver’s license and clearing initial and periodic driving record checks
