Athletic Academic Advisor, UTC Athletics  Requisition # 18000000J9 

 

This position advises and implements support services for approximately 100 student-athletes to include class selection, study hall, NCAA rules and eligibility, satisfactory progress toward graduation, priority registration, tutoring and adding/dropping classes. Responsibilities include:

  • Advising students towards graduation and NCAA rules and eligibility, including weekly and monthly meetings with students, registration of student-athletes during priority registration, AIQ, and drop/add periods.
  • Performing administrative duties such as reporting, Grades First, study hall, Orientation, Admissions, Banner, CA, Initial Eligibility, etc.
  • Assisting with the recruitment of student-athletes to the University including NCAA initial eligibility.
  • Coordinating special events for the department.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required in Sport administration, education, psychology or related field. Master’s degree in Sport Administration, education, psychology or related field is preferred. One to two years’ experience advising at a four-year university with NCAA athletes is preferred; experience may include internships. Must have the ability to work with various sports and administrators. Must have the ability to advise students from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, UTC admission standards, and UTC technology (ie. SSC Banner and INB Banner& grades first campus) is preferred. Must be able to supervise student assistants and term (temporary) employees. Frequent weekends and evenings required. Occasional overnight travel is required.
