Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)

Bachelor's Degree (equivalent) or higher in Accounting. Minimum of Three (3) years full time progressive financial accounting experience, including financial analysis, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and computerized accounting system required. Strong problem solving and analytical ability as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA, Working with Microsoft Access, Crystal Reports, PeopleSoft financial system, query tools or fundraising software (Raiser's Edge).

Brief Description of Duties:

Stony Brook Foundation seeks a Manager of Cash Management to lead, manage and oversee the data entry staff and a staff accountant who performs bank reconciliation functions and provide overall cash management for the Stony Brook Foundation (SBF).

  • Manage a staff of four (4), one staff member to conduct the reconciliation of 10+ banks on a monthly basis and three data entry staff to conduct cash deposit, pledge and gift recording, and non-gift transaction process and fund-raising database maintenance functions. Offer guidance and assistance when needed to staff members, Advancement team and faculties to resolve issues and questions.
  • Manage corporate accounting functions including cash management, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, revenue forecasting, pledge’s discount and allowance calculation and pledge management and reconciliation gifts transaction between Raiser’s Edge fundraising database and Peoplesoft Financial System.
  • Communicate with Advancement team, internal faculty and staff and external entities regarding gift acceptance policy and procedures, cash receipts, donor intent, banking and merchant services related problems and issues.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly closing schedules and assist internal and external audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.
