Job Summary
The Part-Time Study Abroad Coordinator organizes and processes MDC students for study abroad and exchange programs. The position is responsible for the promotion, recruitment, advising, enrollment, evaluation, pre-departure orientations and risk management of the program.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Advises students on international education options that align with their academic trajectory and learning objectives
- Designs and implements a college-wide marketing plan to promote international education programs available to MDC students
- Creates/prepares and updates brochures and other informational materials
- Coordinates study abroad recruitment to meet enrollment goals and program objectives
- Conducts pre-departure orientations for all study abroad participants and coordinates post-trip reintegration activities
- Creates and administers surveys and other evaluations tools to collect quantitative data
- Assists with the monitoring of students while abroad and with the implementation of proper risk management procedures
- Assists with the coordination and tracking of student payments, medical insurance, academic records and other related documentation
- Maintains records (digital and hard copies) for participants in the program, Miami Dade college and other approved study abroad programs
- Processes program applications, enrolls students in insurance programs, assists with enrollment in host institutions and prepares invoices sent to students and/or home institutions
- Prepares acceptance letters and program packets for study abroad students
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of relevant experience in study abroad, student advising, international education or higher education
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database programs that relate to department
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities
- Ability to apply marketing principles and strategies to promote international programs
- Familiarity with college admissions, financial aid and transfer credit programs
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
- Ability to travel to multiple campuses
- Ability to work in a multicultural and multiethnic environment
