The Dean's Office has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Web Developer (Open Rank) position.

Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Examples of Work Performed:

This position will serve as a full-time, full-stack web application developer for the CU School of Medicine. The developer will work with a small team to identify improvements and create new features for several transactional and analytical applications. We are looking for someone who likes to work on all aspects of web applications from the underlying database layer through the business logic and API layers, all the way up to the user interface. Excellent front-end skills including CSS, HTML and JavaScript are required (including visual design skills). This is not just an isolated backend or mid-tier development position. Examples of duties/responsibilities include:
  • Maintain and enhance existing C# applications, websites, databases and user interfaces.
  • Design, develop and implement new web applications, databases, and APIs.
  • Design, code and test enhancement change requests and bug fixes as assigned.
  • Test all work carefully in multiple browsers to insure compatibility.
  • Maintain code base in Visual Studio Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Maintain and enhance existing data warehouse and analytic reporting tools.
  • Create and maintain database integration processes and troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Working with data owners to develop customized reports and dashboards.
  • Provide SharePoint development and support.
  • Provide end-user support for the suite of applications the team owns.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution AND 1 year of professional level experience with database management. Experience must have included working with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and ASP.NET.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not the specific year of experience.

For Senior Level Appointments:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution AND (2) years of professional level experience with database management. Experience must have included working with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and ASP.NET.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with responsive and adaptive design.
  • Experience with REST API development and integration.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience with end user support.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, and JavaScript frameworks such as JQuery or Angular.
  • Understanding of version control systems, preferably Team Foundation Server.
  • Experience or training with best software development practices and use of development, test, and production environments.
  • Experience with enterprise database management system (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2).
  • Committed to vigorously testing all code.
