Posting Summary:
The Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging's Research Division is seeking candidates for a full-time Research Scientist position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing algorithms for non-invasive assessment of dynamic cardiac and brain PET images of rodent and human hearts and brains. This will include optimization of multi-parameter, multi-compartment tracer kinetic models and application of machine learning (deep learning), segmentation and signal processing algorithms for quantifying myocardial metabolism in rodent hearts and differentiating tumor types in human brains from dynamic PET images non-invasively. The candidate must have understanding and experience with imaging features and pattern recognition applications, in-depth knowledge of digital image processing with Matlab, C++, OpenCV, and algorithms within computer vision and machine learning (deep learning) domain and hands on coding experience of brain tumor detection and segmentation with deep learning (Convolutional Neural Networks) algorithms.

A Ph.D. in Engineering with specialization in pattern recognition and intelligent systems, Science or related background is required at the time of hire. At least three (3) years of post-doctoral professional experience with biomedical image analysis is also required. Qualified candidates must have experience providing leadership to small groups and must be able to work independently once objectives are defined and methods of approach have been set.
