This listing is for an Instructor position within the Film & Television department in the College of Arts & Media. The position will begin on August 13, 2018. The course load will be 8 classes per academic year for a total of 24 credit hours (8 courses per academic year).

The emphasis area for this person will be screenwriting and/or digital effects using Adobe After Effects. Also, the candidate will be familiar with current Screenwriting software applications and Adobe Premiere editing software. The expectation of the candidate is that they can teach fiction and non-fiction screenwriting classes, and if expertise allows, also a basic Intro to Digital Effects course.

The College of Arts & Media, located on the Downtown Denver campus, offers B.F.A. and B.A. degrees in Studio Arts, Art History, Film and Television and B.S. and M.S. degrees in Music with studies in the rapidly growing field of audio forensics. The Department of Theatre, Film and Video Production is a growing and collegial department that offers a B.F.A. in Film and Television. Our program is a rigorous one where students are involved in all aspects of production. Students graduate from this program with an extensive portfolio of films and television projects. The department continues to evolve in tandem with the changing industry and we are looking for a person who is aware of both the current industry trends as well as new models of production, visibility and distribution models.

Salary and Benefits

Minimum Qualifications

  • MFA or MA in Film or Television.
  • A thorough knowledge of the craft of screenwriting and the ability to teach it.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere editing software

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of teaching experience
