Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Using knowledge of auditing, networks, operating systems, applications, and IT security, the IT Audit Manager will perform audits, reviews, and consulting engagements to assess and provide advice on the adequacy of IT internal controls and integrity of institutional data. In addition, the manager will attest to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University's information systems, including servers, applications, network infrastructure, and workstations. These engagements include assessing the level of compliance with applicable institutional policies and procedures, and contractual obligations regarding data privacy and security.

In collaboration with the Division of Information Technologies (DoIT), the IT Audit Manager may investigate security incidents and identify vulnerabilities that exist in the University's network environment and decentralized systems.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems, computer science, accounting, finance, business administration or related field is required; 3 years of experience in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Certifications:
CISA, CISSP, CPA, or CIA, or evidence of progression toward achieving such designation.

Education and Experience:
Master's degree in related field. Previous experience in auditing IT. Previous experience in higher education environment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of networking, business systems, IT audit and IT security, as well as a sincere desire to broaden and apply that knowledge.

Considerable skill in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and presenting findings and recommendations;

- Establish and maintain collegial working relationships with co-workers, staff and clients, and to work efficiently in a professional team environment;

- Considerable skill in using a computer with word processing, spreadsheet, and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries, and analyses;

- Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions;

- Skill in negotiating issues and resolving problems;

- Knowledge of COBIT standards developed by ISACA;

- Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices, management principles and preferred business practices;

- Knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors;

- Knowledge of higher education industry policies, procedures, regulations, and laws;

- Familiarity with forensic investigative work.
