A wide range of student- and faculty-centered services is the cornerstone of the Libraries' integral role in the University of North Texas community.

The Digital Libraries Division supports the UNT Libraries with guidance, software development, digital preservation, and other digital services. Our digital newspaper team collaborates with Texas communities, publishers, and institutions to promote standards-based digitization of newspapers and to make newspapers freely accessible via The Portal to Texas History (http://texashistory.unt.edu/).

Job Description
The University Library Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Imaging Lead to join our team. This position will support UNT's commitment to national and state digital newspaper programs by accurately inventorying, organizing, and digitizing newspapers.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Preparing newspapers for digitization through inventory and identification, disbinding bound volumes, and arranging newspapers in archival boxes.
* Using large-format scanning equipment to convert newspapers to electronic files; completing initial quality assurance.
* Confirming accuracy of newspaper notes and dates and preparing digitized newspaper files for upload onto the newspaper file system.
* Assisting in the supervision of others, including preparation of training materials, facilitating training for student assistants, and allocating tasks.
* Ensuring compliance with digital preservation and access standards.
* Troubleshooting imaging-related issues on large-format scanning equipment.
* Assisting with overflow work or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess an Associate's Degree and two years of office administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Must be detail oriented and have the ability to detect and correct document quality issues.
* Ability to work at a sustained pace to meet production service level agreements while producing quality work.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple tasks on a daily basis.
* Ability to follow the procedures for capturing, storing, routing and retrieving of electronic records and documents.
* Basic Microsoft Office skills.
* Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
* Ability to effectively communicate.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Experience with imaging software and standards.
* Experience with large-format imaging.
