Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Department of Biological Sciences is to provide high quality, student-centered academic programs and courses in the sciences at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the department provides each student with the opportunity to broaden his/her knowledge before deciding on a specific profession and being committed to the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Biological Sciences. Our diverse faculty prepares students through education, research, and outreach programs to become critical thinkers. We offer degrees in Biology, Biotechnology, and Forensic Science. Our highly qualified faculty are driven to prepare students for careers in government, industry, health-related professions, education, and pursuing further study in graduate or professional schools. The Department strives to develop abilities and values to serve our regional, national, international, and military communities, and create a nurturing and learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Department of Biological Sciences at Fayetteville State University invites applications for a one-year fixed term Adjunct Assistant Professor/Adjunct Lecturer of Biotechnology & Molecular Biology to begin in August 2018.

The Department of Biological Sciences offers B.S. degrees in Biology with three concentrations (I. Plant Sciences, II. Biotechnology & Molecular Biology, and III. Organismal Biology) and Forensic Science with approximately 400 majors. The position will strengthen the Dept. in the areas of Biotechnology & Molecular Biology; therefore, the successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, and General Biology, advise students, and serve the department, college, university, and community.

Description of Work Continued:
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate courses in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and General Biology
• Mentor students, and serve the department, college, university, and community.
• Ability to teach Bioinformatics is a plus.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or a closely related field, a Post-Doctoral Experience, and a strong record of publications and research accomplishments. The candidate should also be able to teach online.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biology with a focus in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or a closely related field and a strong record of publications and research accomplishments. An MS in Biology with 18 Credit hours of graduate level courses in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, & Microbiology can be considered for the Lecturer position. The candidate should also be able to teach online.
